The weather station has arrived and I've set it up, in a rudimentary fashion at least. I'll soon mount the anenometer (wind speed indicator) at least 10m above ground level, but in the mean time its about 1m off the ground and sheltered by trees so does not give anywhere near an accurate reading. The information cannot be downloaded to a computer yet as I need a data logger to collect the information. Due to this it may still be a few weeks before I can have a live weather page here. We apologise for any inconvienience this may cause. |-)'

A 'My Sky' receiver has been installed. This is a proprietary decoder/hard disk recorder from New Zealands biggest satellite TV provider, Sky TV, and records around 60hrs of programming on its 160Gb hard drive. A more in depth review will be available in a couple of weeks after some familiarisation with the system.

Today I have uploaded the new photography page. Its very sparse at the moment, as I have just remade the old layout into the new 'corporate' design. The next page to go under the knife will probably be the scale model pages.

A Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 weather station is now in transit to me. I hope to have this hooked up over the next few weeks to give live 24/7 weather updates from my location.
UPDATE:
I've reformatted the main page to a 650 pixel wide footprint, for a little more relaxed, open space experience. You can still see the old page here. The IE view of the page is better than yesterday, but I still have a little formatting left to do on the text.

Just a few little mods here this evening. A link to a live stream from bFM. You lucky little bastards! Also a quick update on the scale model page, and a couple more title images that will be in the rotation.I think I may have nailed a weather station.. I'll keep you updated on this one.

Its 0200 and I'm still working with this. Coming along nicely tho, and good enough to go live. Now i have to think about the rest of the site and if I should follow this scheme.
UPDATE:
If your a Microsoft Internet Explorer user, then this page will look downright ugly. I'm not sure if its my coding or the poor handling of CSS by the IE browser, but you may have a better experience if you enter through the old door. But I do urge you to use Firefox.
UPDATE:
Now I have a random header image appearing everytime the page is loaded.. go on, try it. This has also sorted out a problem with the rendering of the code in IE. Now the page dosen't look half bad, whichever browser you look through. No word on the mac's yet.
UPDATE:
you can now sign my Guestbook if you wish. A counter has also been added, along with a favicon to show up in the address bar.
UPDATE:
Now I have the Weather page up and running. This has local radar and satellite imagery, along with NZ synopsis and links to many great weather sites.I put a bid in on a weather station on ebay this afternoon. I failed to snare it, but I do aim to have a live local weather station up and running over the next few months.
January 14, 2006 jschreiber.comTrying out some more CSS code. I've had a go on my local website, and now putting a little in action in the public arena. this page has not yet gone live officially, but you can access it from the rippingsilk.com website. UPDATE:
OK, just testing an external style sheet, and all seems to be in order.
UPDATE:
Now I have the navigation bar working at the top of the page. I'm not too well up on the intricacies of it, but I am managing to customise it to my requirements. |
